Parent Investigation Information Evening

On Thursday evening Mrs. Kristen Berthao, third grade teacher and Math Curriculum Assistant  for Clough School held an information evening for any parent who was interested in learning more about our K-5 math program. We had a great turn out in spite of the impending blizzard that was to hit us on Friday. Feedback was extremely positive. We will be looking to hold another evening like this for parents in the spring.  We hope if you weren't able to attend the one on February 7th you will be able to attend our next one. Once we pin down a date and time we will let everyone know.

Pre-K Registration

Pre -K Registration

Registration for the Mendon–Upton Integrated Pre-K will be held the week of January 28 - February 1, 2013. To register, children must be 3 or 4 years old on or before August 31, 2013 and be toilet trained. Parents must be able to provide their own transportation and the children must be residents of Mendon or Upton. All classes are staffed with Master Level Teachers who are dually certified.  In addition to the teachers, each classroom is staffed with teaching assistants. All classes are integrated, meaning they include both children with and without disabilities. We use a researched based curriculum “Tools of the Mind.”

The morning class for three-year-olds is Monday – Thursday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at a cost of $303.00 per month. The afternoon class for four-year-olds is Monday – Friday from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm costing $378.00 per month. Tuition rates are subject to change for the 2013-2014 school year.  Registration tickets will be available at both school offices in Mendon and Upton. The deadline for registration is Friday, February 1, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Every effort will be made to accommodate all those interested in attending the Mendon-Upton Integrated Pre-K.  In the event that there are more students registered than available slots, a lottery will be drawn on February 8, 2013.

Winter Concert

We will be holding our Winter Concert February 7^th. There will be two performances: the 10:00 performance is for A. M. Pre-k, A.M. Kindergarten parents, Full Day Kindergartners, and First/Second Grade parents. The second performance will be at 2:00 for P.M. Pre-k, P.M. Kindergarten parents, and for parents with children in Grades three and four. If you have children in more than one grade level feel free to select the performance that fits your schedule best, but please note that parking is limited. We are very excited for Mrs. Eland to have this opportunity to showcase the variety of music and instruments the students have been working on these past several months in class. We hope you can join us!

Digital Learning Day

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, I would like to take a moment to say thank you to each of you who continue to show your support to us here at H.P. Clough Elementary School. It is gratifying to be involved with such kind, caring, and thoughtful people who always work together for the good of our children. Fuel Up to Play 60

This year the Clough Elementary School is participating in a physical activity and nutrition program created by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League called Fuel Up To Play 60. It engages students, working together with adults, to be creative to make long term, healthy changes in our school. These include increased access to nutrient-rich foods, like low-fat and fat free dairy, fruits, vegetables and whole grains, in accordance with the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, and at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. The program builds on what has been learned from research: well-nourished kids tend to be better students, and physical activity supports learning.

Additionally, the Fuel Up To Play 60 program encourages students to track their healthy eating and physical activity habits. They can do this, with the permission and help from their parents, by logging onto the Fuel Up To Play 60 website at www.fueluptoplay60.com.

The Fuel Up To Play 60 program will be a fun and exciting addition to our Physical Education program at the Clough Elementary School. Students will be presented with fitness activities that can be performed in Physical Education class, at recess, and at home that they can track as part of their 60 minutes of physical activity a day. The program will be a great way to help students get excited about eating healthy and exercising on a daily basis.
